Life Skills Summit

 Prototype Map & Rules

Bruce Berman

The meeting that I attended was that of Bruce Berman who was a producer for Nickelodeon shows like iCarly, Victorious, and Sam and Cat. During his talk, he spoke a lot about the connections he made while working on his internships and all the different projects he worked on. He also talked about the number of hours he would have to work on certain projects.

The Game

The game I had in mind making based on this information was a simulation game. In this game, one would play as Bruce and establish connections with the cast and crew of the show; while you work on filming and producing iCarly. Bruce filmed 6 seasons of the 7 season show, so the player can choose to stay and film the remaining seasons after one season. However, the player can choose to branch off and start his own show with the connections you make with cast and crew. The player can choose to leave whenever they feel like they can, but only after filming one season.

I imagine the game being played with The Sims point of view; using wasd to move and the left mouse button to interact with the people and objects. I only envision two different stages because the stages are constantly being re-done with new props so it is always changing; if needed a third stage is a possibility. I limited the stage designs to basic shapes to represent the different assets in the game because when you are prototyping a game that you keep the design simple (Fullerton, 2019, pp. 217–218).
